Overview

MS round bars, also called rods, are plain mild steel bars sold in 6 m and 12 m lengths. We stock diameters from 6 mm to 50 mm, in black finish and, on request, bright.

Uses in Indore

Fabricators use round bar for gates, grills, railings, anchors and hooks. Workshops cut it for pins, rollers and fasteners. It is not a reinforcement bar: for RCC use ribbed TMT bars instead.

Buying guide

Weight per metre is d x d / 162 kg. A 12 mm bar is about 0.89 kg per metre, so a 12 m length is about 10.7 kg. Use that to check what is delivered. If your drawing says reinforcement, you want TMT, not plain round.

Can I use MS round bar instead of TMT bar in a slab?

No. TMT bars have ribs that grip the concrete and a tested yield strength. Plain round bar is for fabrication, not reinforcement.

How do I work out the weight of a round bar?

Weight in kg per metre is the diameter in mm squared, divided by 162. A 16 mm bar is about 1.58 kg per metre.
